Cancer biology and targeted treatments for solid tumours: de-mystifying the science for cancer nurses (1 day)
Level: intermediate (Designed for chemotherapy/ward/out-patient nurses & clinical nurse specialists working with cancer patients; also suitable for clinical trials staff who don’t have a scientific background)
Description: This course gives cancer nurses the knowledge and confidence to discuss targeted cancer treatments with patients and colleagues. The focus of the day is on cancer biology and the science behind licensed treatments for solid tumours, including monoclonal antibodies and small molecule kinase inhibitors. It also touches on experimental approaches such as PARP inhibitors, as well introducing biomarkers and personalised cancer care.
